Year 2 2018 - 2019

Mrs Li

Welcome to Africa!

This term we will be venturing into the wild to meet all the wonderful creatures who live there. Perhaps we will meet some ferocious lions on our adventure trails!

We will be starting our topic by becoming geography detectives and diving into the maps to find Africa. We will be looking at lots of aerial photos to find out about who and what lives there!

Stay tuned to see what we discover!

Key Information

Physical Education

PE will be on Mondays each week. It is essential that the children have their PE kits in school. We will also be undertaking the Golden Mile so they will need their trainers on a regular basis.

Times-Table Rockstars
Your child has an account on Times-Table Rockstars and should be practising on increasing their rock speed, though they may train in the garage area of the site to earn virtual coins and gain confidence (these coins are only used to change the appearance of their rock star's avatar, and have no actual monetary value.) Here is the direct link to the website: ttrockstars.com

Reading Diaries

All reading diaries need to be in daily and children should be reading at home at least three times a week. Our reading reward system is a great incentive for them. Many children receive their free books throughtout the year as a celebration of their dedication.

Other useful information:

Contacting me: You are very welcome to contact me through Class Dojo, through the School Office or by catching me at the end of the school day.  I am always happy to talk to parents /guardians, so feel free to drop by.

Water bottles need to be brought into school on a daily basis. It is important that they stay hydrated and it is known that regular drinks of water throughout the day have a significant impact on their ability to concentrate.

Snacks / Bacon rolls: Snacks are available at break every day, and bacon rolls for £1 on Fridays. You may pay for your child's bacon roll via the online payment system.

Homework: Weekly homework includes time to test yourself on TT Rockstars and read your home book, but your child also receives a spelling list and a half-termly Dojo Homework Project Challenge list. We will check through the homework books regularly, and talk with the pupils about the standards within them, giving dojo points where merited.
